Overview

The vision for South Orange Middle School, along with our other district middle schools, is to be the top-performing middle-level system in the nation by focusing on academic excellence, cultural competency, and social equity.

Highlights

• Nationally recognized as a No Place for Hate School through the Anti-Defamation League.
• Designated as a River-Friendly Certified School by the Rahway River Watershed Association.
• First-class music and fine arts program with thriving band, orchestra, chorus, drama, and Art 2D & 3D classes.
• Thriving extra-curricular programs such as Alvin Ailey Dance Fellowship, the All School Musical, the Science Fair, Yearbook Club, MLK Club, Model UN, and Student Government.
• SOMS staff and students regularly utilize technology on a daily basis.
